WAN Optimization

WAN Optimization is fast becoming the most efficient and cost-effective way to improve application performance on a network and enhance the user experience without purchasing expensive bandwidth.

Networks and applications today are more critical than ever.  As work forces become more distributed they are increasingly reliant on business applications and the underlying network infrastructure that supports them.  The demands on your network continue to grow.  Even as circuit bandwidth prices continue to be competitive, they remain your largest recurring network expense, and management is constantly squeezing every dollar out of your operating budget.

Applications are often not designed to perform well over a wide area network, particularly ones that contains significant latency.  Latency can cause even basic applications such as file transfers or mail to grind to an unusable halt.  The user experience can be infuriating.  Network congestion can occur if user demands exceed capacity, which they constantly seem to do, further degrading application performance.  The desire to centralize applications to reduce infrastructure and support costs is a desirable goal but one that is difficult in the face of these obstacles.

WAN Optimization appliances provide a means to realize these goals without upgrading network bandwidth.  Product vendors offer router-like appliances with application layer intelligence that interacts with the applications in a manner that reduces network traffic and speeds up performance.  For a price much less than the recurring cost of circuits, you can improve the user experience while reducing your operational costs.

Millennia Systems will help you to accomplish this goal.  We will first develop a clear-cut business case that justifies the WAN optimization hardware purchase.  Millennia will evaluate your applications, develop your network and WAN optimization requirements, evaluate vendor products, design, test and implement the solution.  The results will improve application performance for your user community while saving you money.
